The City of Los Angeles and Friends of the Observatory have been committed to that spirit of excellence in every aspect of the renovation and expansion project. This has involved taking the time, spending the money, and getting the people necessary to do the job right, so that the result is something the people of Los Angeles can celebrate with justified pride.  Lunch will be on your own at The Café at the End of the Universe, located at the Griffith Observatory.

“CORTEO” CIRQUE DU SOLEIL @ DEL MAR SAN DIEGO

Corteo, which means “cortege” in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown.  The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The clown pictures his own funeral-taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels.  Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the oration of humanity that is within each of us.  The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.  This magnificent performance takes place in San Diego at the Del Mar Fairground in side a very large tent with regular semi padded seats No Bleachers!.  Performance is at 4:00pm, we will stop for lunch before the show at a near by restaurant TBA.
