Swimming and More!
Valley-Wide Recreation’s Aquatic Center is a heated 25-yard outdoor pool
with a water slide, zero depth entry with water fountain sprayers and activity
for small children. Come out and enjoy the fun. The Aquatic Center will
be open for the 2010 Season starting Saturday, May 1st for “Weekend
Only”. Beginning Monday, June 15th the pool will be open seven days per
week.
AMERICAN RED CROSS – LIFEGUARD TRAINING
If you want a fantastic summer job that is physically challenging and
requires concentration and an ability to respond to emergency situations,
become a Lifeguard!
Course Description
Course is designed to prepare lifeguards candidates to recognize emergencies
and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, and prevent
drowning.
Course includes First Aid and CPR/AED for the professional Rescuer.
PRE-REQUISITES
Participant must be at least 15 years old.
• Swim 300 yards continuously
• 100 yards front crawl
• 100 yards breast stroke
• 100 yards may be mixture of front crawl & breaststroke
• Swim 20 yards front or breaststroke, dive to a depth of 7 feet, retrieve a
10-pound brick and return it to the surface and swim 20 yards back with
legs only to the starting point.
Participant must participate and attend all classroom sessions, demonstrate
proficient and water skills, and pass a written exam with a score of at least
80 percent.
To become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard, enroll in Lifeguard
Training.
SESSION I: March 10 – 14
SESSION II: March 24 – 28
SESSION III: April 14 – 18
COST: $190.00 per person.

SWIM LESSONS: sign-ups start Saturday, May 1, 2010 @ 9:00 am
Lessons take place Monday – Thursday. Lessons are 30 minutes long with
5-8 children per class with two instructors, depending on skill level.
Participants learn the basic motor skills for beginning swimming and crawl
stroke and graduate to sidestroke, back crawl, elementary backstroke,
backstroke, and butterfly. Lesson will be taught at Valley-Wide Recreation
Aquatic Center. Space is limited sign-up early!
PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS: By advance reservation
These lessons will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings
only. Private swim lessons are 35 minute, one-on-one lesson with
child/adult and one instructor

FEE: $30.00 per 35-minute lesson

Our Dive in Movie Theater will be open for fun this summer 2010. Bring
your favorite raft and entire family and enjoy some of your favorite movies
of all time.

This is Valley-Wide’s version of a summer “Mom & Me” Program. Parents,
grandparents, and caregivers can bring their tots and swim at the new
Aquatic Center. What a great way to spend time with your little ones this
summer.

*For kids under 8, the Big Blue Slide will not be turned on. The deep end
of the pool will be closed also.
